The Adult Education & Life Skills Program at Iron Trail Workforce Foundation is designed to empower individuals with the knowledge, confidence, and practical abilities they need to successfully navigate work, home, and everyday life. Many of the people we serve are rebuilding after hardship—returning from incarceration, overcoming homelessness, reentering the workforce, or seeking a second chance. Others simply need support to strengthen their education, improve their stability, or build a stronger foundation for their future. This program ensures they never have to take that journey alone.
Our Adult Education & Life Skills Program is built around a simple principle: true success requires more than job training—it requires life training. For this reason, we provide a supportive learning environment where participants can grow intellectually, emotionally, and practically. The program combines academic instruction, personal development, and hands-on skill building to help adults gain independence, self-sufficiency, and long-term stability.
Participants have access to:
GED preparation and testing support
Reading, writing, and communication skills
Math for daily life and workforce needs
Computer literacy, digital skills, and technology use
Assistance with forms, applications, resumes, and job searches
These services help individuals overcome educational gaps, increase their employability, and build confidence in their ability to learn and succeed.
In addition to academics, participants receive hands-on training in essential life skills, including:
Financial literacy: budgeting, banking, credit building, saving, and responsible spending
Time management & organization
Healthy communication & conflict resolution
Goal setting, planning, and follow-through
Healthy habits & stress management
Nutrition and meal planning
Workplace professionalism and etiquette
These skills support lifelong stability and give participants the tools to navigate challenges with confidence and clarity.
Our program also teaches practical, real-world abilities that many adults never had the opportunity to learn, such as:
Basic home maintenance and safety
Household management and cleaning skills
Using tools and completing simple repairs
Navigating healthcare and social services
Parenting and family support resources
By teaching these foundational skills, we help participants build stronger homes and healthier personal lives.
While academics and life skills are essential, personal growth is at the heart of this program. Participants receive mentoring, encouragement, and support that helps them build confidence, develop healthy routines, and create a positive self-image. Many individuals in our program have never been told they are capable—our goal is to show them that they are.
The Adult Education & Life Skills Program connects seamlessly with our other training pathways:
Tiny Home Builders
Culinary & Community Kitchen
Hydroponics & Urban Agriculture
Auto & Trades Garage
Reentry & Second Chances
Senior Support & Home Repair
This integration ensures participants receive wraparound support—education, skills training, stability services, and real-world experience all in one place.
The Adult Education & Life Skills Program is more than a class; it is a pathway to independence. It equips individuals with the tools they need to break old cycles, build new habits, and create sustainable, meaningful lives. Many participants join our workforce programs after completing their educational goals, while others use their new skills to secure employment, reconnect with family, or pursue higher learning.
At Iron Trail Workforce Foundation, we believe every adult deserves the chance to learn, grow, and succeed—no matter their past or the challenges they face. This program stands as a cornerstone of our mission: empowering individuals to rebuild their lives with dignity, confidence, and a clear sense of possibility.
By strengthening minds, building skills, and nurturing personal growth, we are helping individuals create futures they can truly be proud of.
