Program Components

1. Comprehensive Workforce Training

Participants gain practical, job-ready skills through hands-on training led by experienced instructors. Training pathways include:

  • Construction & Tiny Home Building: Metal stud framing, steel fabrication, tool safety, job-site operations, blueprint reading, and finishing.
  • Welding & Fabrication: MIG/TIG welding, structural welding, safety certification prep, and small-project fabrication.
  • Automotive Repair & Maintenance: Basic diagnostics, shop safety, engine maintenance, and real-world repair projects that support community low-income families.
  • Culinary & Community Kitchen Training: Safe food handling, commercial kitchen operations, bulk meal production, menu planning, and hospitality skills.
  • Hydroponics, Aquaponics & Greenhouse Operations: Sustainable food production, plant care, harvesting, system maintenance, and produce management.

Each training track includes safety instruction, industry standards, teamwork, communication skills, and applied learning through community service projects or production-based operations.

2. Individualized Case Management

Every participant is paired with a dedicated case manager who guides them from intake to long-term stability. Case management includes:

  • Comprehensive Assessment: Evaluating barriers, strengths, goals, and support needs.
  • Individual Service Plans (ISPs): Customized roadmaps covering training, life skills, employment, transportation, education, and personal goals.
  • Navigation of Support Services: Assistance securing ID documents, healthcare, mental-health support, childcare, housing referrals, and financial coaching.
  • Life Skills Development: Workshops and one-on-one coaching on communication, time management, conflict resolution, budgeting, and problem-solving.
  • Ongoing Accountability & Support: Weekly check-ins, progress reviews, and encouragement to ensure participants stay on track.

Our case management is trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and strength-based, focusing on empowerment rather than punishment.

Why This Program Matters

Many individuals in New Mexico face significant barriers to employment: incarceration histories, limited education, lack of transportation, mental health challenges, and generational poverty. Without structured support, these barriers can trap people in cycles of instability. The Iron Trail Workforce Foundation fills this gap by offering a full-spectrum, supportive, skills-based program that gives participants what they need most:

  • structured environment
  • practical skill set
  • coach and advocate
  • pathway to dignity and self-sufficiency

By integrating workforce training with robust case management, we make long-term success possible—not just a temporary opportunity.

It ensures that every participant—regardless of background—can build a stable future, contribute meaningfully to the community, and pursue a long-term career with confidence and pride.
